The work of Questioning the thesis system is a series of paintings, memories and personal thoughts that speak about my process to obtain the Technical Title in Visual Arts from ITAE (Instituto Superior Tecnológico de las Artes del Ecuador). This process implied requirements, for example: at least six works had to be shown in the final exhibition and the thesis document had to be presented in a book bound with blue cloth and its letters silk-screened in gold. So I wonder about the need for these rules and (possible) limitations to be considered for a Visual Artist degree.

The works of art use everyday materials and tools, such as the design of digital and handwritten letters that I use in my Instagram stories (even their colors), which are in the record of the process, and photos that I previously shared on this social network. Also, I show the pre-production process of the works on a sheet of paper where I organized the information and the works of art that I decided to do when I was in Guayaquil and Hunstville (with orange pen color). Also, I used ordinary rose and flower patterned fabrics, upon its threads I added Huntsville weeds and a pinecone (it was everywhere in Huntsville) along with its photographic record to a piece, and in all works of art the questions that arise in everyday like weeds. In addition, they have citations to previously written works in institutional processes.

La obra de Questioning the thesis system (Cuestionando el sistema tesis) es una serie de pinturas, recuerdos y pensamientos personales que hablan acerca de mi proceso para obtener el Título Técnico en Artes Visuales del ITAE (Instituto Superior Tecnológico de las Artes del Ecuador). Este proceso implicó requisitos, por ejemplo: al menos seis obras debían mostrarse en la exposición final y el documento de tesis debía presentarse como un libro empastado con tela azul y sus letras serigrafiadas en dorado. Entonces, me pregunto acerca de la necesidad de estas reglas y (posibles) limitaciones para ser considerado para un título de Artista Visual.

Las obras de arte realizadas utilizan herramientas y materiales cotidianos, como el diseño de letras digitales y manuscritas que uso en mis historias de Instagram (incluso sus colores), las cuales están en el registro del proceso de realización, y fotos que compartí anteriormente en esta red social. También, muestro el proceso de pre-producción de las obras en una hoja de papel donde organicé la información y las obras de arte que decidí hacer cuando estuve en Guayaquil y en Hunstville (con bolígrafo de color naranja). Además, usé telas comunes estampadas con rosas y flores, sobre sus hilos diseñé y agregué malas hierbas de Huntsville y un pinecone (estaban en todas partes en Huntsville) junto con su registro fotográfico en una pieza, y en todas las obras de arte las preguntas surgen en algo cotidiano como la mala hierba. También, poseen citas a trabajos escritos previamente en procesos institucionales.
